The firstborn child of Luke and Laura Spencer, Lucky has always been a
reflection of both his parents. He inherited his mother's practicality and his
father's sense of adventure.
Being so much like his parents has been the source of much friction between all
of them. Lucky alternately admires and abhors his father, though his
relationship with Laura is usually stable. Things really came to a head when
Lucky found out he had a half-brother, Nikolas Cassadine.
Lucky and Nikolas had been taught to hate each other as part of the ongoing feud
between the Spencers and the Cassadines. What both young men soon learned,
however, was that they didn't hate each other at all. Tired of the endless
battles between their families, Lucky and Nikolas agreed to distance themselves
from the never-ending feud.
Lucky became a pillar of support for Liz after she was raped on Valentine's Day
in 1998. At this same time, Lucky learned that Luke had raped Laura some twenty
years before. Lucky became disgusted by Luke and did not want to have anything
to do with him. After Lucky told Liz what his father had done to his mother, the
bond between them became stronger. Lucky left home and stayed at Liz's house
before getting a place of his own.
Lucky didn't want anything to do with either Luke or Laura and they remained
estranged for some time. Eventually, Luke got through to Lucky and he reconciled
with his parents.
Lucky and Liz grew more and more in love and they even planned to move to New
York City together while Liz attended art school there. Although Liz and Lucky
weren't lovers, they did pledge their love to another in an abandoned church on
Valentine's Day.
Lucky's greatest ordeal happened in 1999 when everyone presumed that he had been
killed in a fire. As it turned out, Lucky hadn't died, but had been kidnapped by
Helena Cassadine and Cesar Faison. For the next year, Lucky was held in a series
of elaborate bunkers where he became very adept at the game of chess.
When Luke realized that Lucky was alive, he set out on a search for his son. At
this same time, Helena took Lucky to the Triple L diner and set him free. Luke
and Laura found Lucky at the Triple L, but were shocked by his attitude and
behavior. Lucky wanted nothing to do with his parents and blamed them for his
ordeal. Lucky eventually made his way back to Port Charles and his friends were
equally puzzled by his new outlook on things. Liz was especially taken aback by
Lucky as he seemed to be trying to push her away. In fact, Lucky even suggested
that Liz should become involved with Nikolas.
Lucky clearly wasn't himself anymore and one person seemed responsible -- Helena
Cassadine. As it turned out, Helena had brainwashed Lucky and was determined to
make him a pawn in her latest evil scheme.

Cassadine. As it turned out, Helena had brainwashed Lucky and was determined to

Liz surprised Lucky at the boxcar and they shared a kiss, but Lucky suddenly
pulled away and claimed that everything they shared in the past was gone. Not
wanting to give up, Liz and Emily decided to recreate the dinner they had at the
diner with Nikolas and Lucky on the night of the fire. The foursome gathered at
Kelly's and Lucky seemed like his old self for a short while. Something then
snapped in Lucky and he pushed Liz away and left.
Lucky, Liz and Nikolas teamed up over the summer to help Emily with her
blackmailing ordeal and subsequent kidnapping. Lucky and Liz were able to
connect on several occasions, but he always ended up pushing her away again. By
the end of August, Lucky realized there was something wrong with his mind. Soon
thereafter, Liz witnessed Helena using mind control on Lucky. Liz then used
Helena's code phrase on Lucky, who realized he had been brainwashed. Lucky then
told Liz that he loved her.
Lucky started treatment with Kevin Collins in an effort to erase the hold Helena
had over him.
Helena used the Ice Princess diamond to hypnotize Lucky into killing Jason
Morgan. But after he attacked Jason, he didn't remember doing it or why. Helena
then gave Lucky a diamond ring to give to Elizabeth to propose to her.
Lucky continued to get himself into trouble due to Helena's hypnosis. He
attacked Nikolas in the hospital when his brother told him he needed to get more
help from Kevin Collins. Stefan intercepted to protect Nikolas and had Lucky
arrested. Luke and Laura realized Lucky needed help asked Dr. Collins to go to
jail and try to deprogram Lucky. Unfortunately it was unsuccessful when Helena
showed up and convinced him to escape. When Elizabeth found him, she told Lucky
he needed to get help again. But he continued to follow Helena's orders and even
poisoned Lucas' drink.
Lucky and Elizabeth moved into Nikolas and Gia's house so they all could keep an
eye on Lucky. He learned he had a passion for photography and Carly hired him to
take pictures of Gia who had become a model.
Helena told Lucky about a lab underneath General Hospital where Lucky found Luke
and Stavros fighting. Helena told Lucky to stab his father with a syringe full
of a virus that would make Luke go crazy. Afterwards Lucky broke off his
engagement with Elizabeth because he realized he could not control himself. He
told her she should be with Nikolas.
Lucky was kidnapped again by Helena's goons, or so he thought. But it was
actually Elizabeth who was responsible. Lucky then realized how much she loved
him and they agreed to be together. While Elizabeth hid out on a closet and
watched, Helena used the Ice Princess again to erase all of Lucky's memories of
his love for Elizabeth. But Helena soon learned that her plan did not work when
she tried to show everyone her secret weapon in her plan to take over the world,
Lucky. Instead of complying with her wishes, Lucky rejected her and she realized
his programming was not working because he had been focusing on his love for
Elizabeth. Helena was then arrested.
Lucky was finally free of Helena's wrath. But found it increasingly difficult to
get back to his life with Elizabeth. He just couldn't seem to truly feel his
love for her again. He tried to ignore it, and even proposed to her. They
planned for a New Year's Eve wedding but it was canceled when Gia broke the news
that Lucky did not love her anymore.
Elizabeth's sister, Sarah came back to Port Charles and she and Lucky took a
liking to each other. Elizabeth and Gia had been in a car accident which
unbeknownst to Lucky was caused by Gia. When Lucky found out the truth, he kept
the secret from Elizabeth. When she found out she severed her friendship with
Nikolas and Gia and broke up with Lucky.
Lucky was flattered when he found out Maxie Jones had a crush on him. He tried
to let her down gently, but she was heartbroken. To get back at him, she told
Elizabeth she had seen Lucky and Sarah go to his room. Elizabeth found them
together and was not happy that they had been seeing each other. Sarah and Lucky
ultimately broke up and she suddenly left town.
While planning for his wedding to Laura, Luke found an old camera with photos of
a young Scott Baldwin covered in blood. When Luke and Laura were no-shows at
their own wedding, Lucky and Nikolas went to investigate and found Rick Webber
murdered in the attic. Trying to protect Luke, they put the body in the trunk of
their car and pushed it over a cliff making it look like a drunk driving
accident. Laura had a mental breakdown and was committed to a mental institution
in London.
Luke was arrested for Rick Webber's murder. Luke took off and Elizabeth and
Lucky found him working on a chain gang in the south and brought him home. Luke
felt responsible for Laura's poor mental health and tried to punish himself. He
even tried to set fire to the police station.
While enrolled in some college courses, Lucky met a woman named Laura. They
became friends and he soon found out she was a former call girl and one of her
ex "johns" was being abusive towards her. Lucky helped Laura and their
friendship soon developed into romance. Lucky was surprised to find out that
Laura was Luke's new woman in his life. Her professional name was Summer and
Luke liked her because she reminded him of his wife Laura. Summer and Lucky
decided to keep the fact that they knew each other a secret from his Dad. When
Luke did eventually find out the truth, he wanted his son and Summer to be
together. What neither of them knew was that Nikolas actually had hired her to
distract Luke from the real Laura, but she met Lucky by mistake. Luke, Lucky,
Nikolas, and Summer all went to find Summer's brother Matt. But Matt was
actually an ex-boyfriend who wanted a piece of the Cassadine fortune.
Luke blamed Lucky for giving Nikolas control over Laura's treatment. At Nikolas
and Gia's engagement party at Wyndemere, Summer was pushed over the bluffs and
died. Lucky blamed Luke for Summer's death.
Lucky then believed Stefan was responsible for Summer's murder. He urged Mac to
look into it, Mac challenged him to become a cop himself and investigate. So,
Lucky took Mac up on his challenge and enrolled in the police academy. He worked
with Nikolas to prove Stefan murdered Summer after mistaking her for Emily.
When Luke came back to town and found out Lucky had become a cop, he panicked.
Luke concocted this idea to hold a mock trial with Stefan and broadcasted it
across town. Lucky was forced to arrest his father after he was accused of
killing Stefan. But Luke was cleared of all charges when it was discovered that
Stefan framed his arch enemy Luke.
Lucky continued to be involved with many cases at the PCPD. But his life changed
when Nikolas was presumed dead. Lucky helped Emily deal with her loss, but he
soon found himself falling in love with Emily. Things got complicated when he
found out Nikolas was alive, but had lost his memory. Now he torn between
Nikolas and his love for Emily.
When Nikolas regained his memory, the brothers came to an understanding and
Nikolas returned to his life with Emily. This didn't sit well with Mary (the
woman who tricked Nikolas into believing he was her husband, Connor) who tried
to kill Emily but killed Sage. Eventually, Nikolas shot Mary and she died at GH
(at the hands of Alcazar).
Nikolas and Emily got engaged which infuriated Helena. She placed a curse on
them and tried to stop the wedding with the help of Tracy Quartermaine. In a
struggle, Nikolas killed Helena. But there was a witness-Connor (Mary's missing
husband). Connor returned to Port Charles and began to stalk Emily. Connor tried
to blackmail Nikolas but Nikolas was ready to face the charges.
As Lucky dealt with his brother's imprisonment, he realized that he still had
feelings for Elizabeth. Lucky served as best man as Elizabeth was the maid of
honor at Nikolas & Emily's wedding. Soon after, Nikolas was sentenced to life in
prison without parole for murdering Helena. Connor returned to town and Lucky,
Elizabeth, and Emily tried to swap Nikolas for Connor. When that plan didn't
work, Luke comes up with a plan to flush Helena out. It required Emily and
Connor to be the bait. Nikolas didn't like the plan but eventually agreed to it.
When the plan went wrong, Emily was rushed off to a safe house with Connor.
Connor got drunk and raped Emily. Emily stabbed him with garden shears. When
Connor tried to attack her again, she shot him. Lucky and Elizabeth arrived to
find Connor dead. Lucky buried Connor while Elizabeth dealt with a very
distraught Emily. Elizabeth suspected Connor raped Emily but Emily was in
complete denial.
Helena was able to grab Emily and locked her up in the Cassadine crypt. Lucky
showed up to rescue her and ended up getting shot by Helena. Lucky was rushed to
GH and had emergency surgery. Lucky slipped into a deep coma as Elizabeth stayed
by his side. Emily spent time sitting with Lucky and told him of her rape.
Luke had a difficult time seeing his son in a coma and took it upon himself to
pull the plug. Fortunately, Skye showed up in time to turn the machines back on.
A legal battle ensued and Luke was forced to stay away from Lucky. Luke snuck
back in and pulled the plug again. This time when Skye showed up, Lucky was
breathing on his own.
Emily found comfort in talking to comatose Lucky and told him about all her
trouble with Nikolas. Lucky woke up and took her hand. As Lucky continued to
recover, he found out about Luke's attempts to disconnect his life support
system. This didn't help the father/son relationship.
Lucky revealed to Elizabeth that he figured out Emily was raped. When Emily
asked Lucky to move into Wyndemere during his recovery, Lucky said yes. Lucky
told Elizabeth that if he was at Wyndemere, he could help Emily deal with her
problems.
Lucky and Elizabeth continued to grow closer as they tried to help Emily. Lucky
and Elizabeth accidentally came across Emily's divorce papers. When they
confronted her about them, Emily told them her marriage was over.
Luke came up with another plan to flush Helena out that again used Emily as the
bait. Helena kidnapped Emily and took her to the safe house where Connor raped
her. Emily got the upper hand and had Helena at knifepoint when Lucky, Mac, and
Luke arrived. With Helena in custody, Nikolas would be released. Lucky picked up
his brother from prison.
As Nikolas and Emily continued to work through their problems, good things were
starting to happen for Lucky. He was officially reinstated to PCPD, and asked
Elizabeth (and Cameron) to move in with him. Things were going well for them
until the reality of bills started to hit them. Lucky had a lot of medical bills
from the shooting and they were in dire need of money.
Elizabeth heard from Dr. Meadows about Jax and Courtney's need for a gestational
host. Elizabeth paid Jax a visit and offered herself as the host. But after to
talking to Lucky, Elizabeth decided against it. When Jax and Courtney asked
Elizabeth to be their surrogate, Elizabeth finally agreed.
The insemination was performed and everyone was waiting to see if it worked.
Lucky started to deal with his jealousy as he watched Jax fawn over Elizabeth.
When Jax purchased an extravagant gift for Cameron, Lucky got mad. He really had
some issues with Elizabeth carrying Jax's child.
Lucky and Elizabeth attended Carly's fundraiser with Nikolas and Emily. Lucky
saw Jax's monetary donation to GH as his way of flaunting his money and power.
Lucky didn't want to be there and left. He quickly returned to the party and
told everyone the roads were closed due to the coming hurricane.
As the hurricane approached, the house had to be secured. Nikolas & Lucky were
taping up the house when Jax and Lucky got into another fight about the
surrogacy. Lucky punched Jax. Jax refused to fight back and even offered to
cancel the arrangement. Elizabeth considered the offer but wondered if she was
already pregnant. She made it clear that if she was pregnant, she would not
abort the child.
When Nikolas tried to talk to Lucky after the fight, Lucky blurted out that
everyone knew about Nikolas & Emily's farce of a marriage. While Nikolas and
Emily were forced to be honest, Lucky admitted to Elizabeth that his pride got
in the way again and he was sorry. Lucky proposed to Elizabeth who happily
accepted.
Soon after Courtney's arrival, Lucky and Elizabeth announced their engagement.
Courtney sensed immediately that Jax wasn't happy. Jax admitted that the
impending marriage would cause problems with the legality of the surrogacy. Jax
approached Elizabeth and suggested they postpone the wedding till after the baby
was born.
When Elizabeth suggested postponing the wedding due to Jax's worries, Lucky got
upset and rescinded his proposal. Elizabeth turned around and proposed to Lucky.
Lucky saved Elizabeth from a tree that crashed through the window. As Lucky
accepted Elizabeth's proposal, Elizabeth was hit with a dizzy spell.
Elizabeth found out she was pregnant. Elizabeth and Lucky decided they should
get married immediately. They were at the courthouse when Jax interrupted the
ceremony. Lucky agreed to postpone the wedding, but later, he and Elizabeth
exchanged vows in the park. He believed they were married in their hearts.
Down at PCPD, Maxie convinced Mac to let Lucky investigate Murphy (the suspected
dirty cop). Maxie promised to stay out of it. Lucky baited Murphy with
information about Jesse. Jesse and Lucky were surprised when Murphy showed up at
the docks, ready to kill them both. Maxie showed up as a fight ensued. Lucky
ended up shooting Murphy. Murphy tried to shoot Lucky but Jesse saved him. Mac
wasn't happy with this so he made Lucky and Jesse partners. He wanted Lucky to
help Jesse take down the drug operation in town and to keep Jesse away from
Maxie.
Courtney and Jax were planning the nursery set up when Elizabeth stopped by.
Elizabeth started giving her opinion so Courtney split. Elizabeth received a
call about Lucky's shooting and fainted. When Lucky arrived to pick Elizabeth
up, Jax and Lucky got into a fight over his job and how it would affect
Elizabeth. Elizabeth defended Lucky but later admitted to Lucky that she worried
about his job
Lucky and Jesse found Rachael dead in her apartment, an apparent suicide. Reese
was very suspicious, even though there was a letter left behind, with a full
confession to AJ's murder. The forensic evidence proved there was no foul play,
but Reese just wouldn't accept it.
Lucky had a rough day at work. Following their chat with Dr. Thomas, Jesse and
Lucky had to deal with Durant's demand for them to fabricate evidence. Jesse had
to pull Lucky off Durant when Durant suggested Lucky was on Sonny's payroll.
When Lucky got home, he found Jax with Elizabeth in what appeared to be a
compromising situation. Jax made his exit as Lucky announced that he thought it
would be best if he moved out until the baby was born. Elizabeth was beside
herself and fell asleep upset. She had forgotten to extinguish the candles she
had set for her romantic dinner with Lucky. She woke up to an apartment full of
smoke. The smoke overwhelmed her but she was able to grab Cameron and got out
safely. Jax took her to GH to make sure she was okay. Lucky was telling Nikolas
and Courtney about his decision to move out when they received word about the
fire. They rushed over to the hospital where Jax and Lucky continued to butt
heads. Jax and Courtney opened their home to Elizabeth and Cameron. Elizabeth
and Courtney had a very honest discussion about the baby. Elizabeth told Lucky
that she was living with Jax and Courtney until the baby was born. Elizabeth had
a nightmare about giving up the baby but covered with Jax and Courtney. She
decided she needed some ice cream and went over to Kelly's. She ran into Lucky
and decided to hang out in his apartment upstairs. They talked about their
future together as they fell asleep.
Elizabeth woke up and realized she never called Jax &
Courtney to let them know where she was. Lucky took her back to Jax & Courtney's
place where Jax made it clear how upset he was with Liz. Lucky stood up for his
woman. Courtney sided with Lucky and Elizabeth as well.
Nikolas told Lucky about the almost affair he had with Courtney. Lucky told
Nikolas to stop this and go back to his wife. Jax presented Lucky and Elizabeth
with their newly repaired apartment before heading down to join Courtney in the
Bahamas.
After the situation in the Bahamas between Courtney, Nikolas, Emily & Jax, Jax
fought with Lucky and Elizabeth over his intentions to divorce and raise the
child on his own. Lucky reminded Elizabeth that if they were to get married
before the child was born, Lucky would be the baby's legal father.
Lucky and Elizabeth set up an intervention of sorts for the friends but
Elizabeth developed cramps. All rushed to the hospital where it appeared people
were trying to make their respective relationships better. But things weren't
going well at all. Nikolas told Lucky that he couldn't stop thinking about
Courtney. Lucky believed that his brother had fallen for Courtney. Nikolas
believed that Courtney and Jax's reunion wasn't on the up and up even after
Courtney told Nikolas that she still loved her husband. Lucky didn't buy the
reconciliation on Jax's part either and shared those feelings with Elizabeth.
